Proposed New Homes For Shefford Move Forward - October 2018

Outline plans have been submitted for the construction of up to 100 new homes on 12.7 acres of land east of Ivel Road, Shefford.

The Outline Planning Application has been submitted to Central Bedfordshire Council for:

  • Up to 100 new homes in a range of sizes and styles
  • 35% affordable housing
  • Provision has been made for land for a 2 form entry primary school, which will be available to the Education Authority, in the event a site for a new school will be needed
  • Funding for improvements to the local highways network
  • New equipped play area and footpaths

Dawn Adams, Planning Manager for Catesby Estates said “We have worked with Central Bedfordshire Council to bring forward this well located and sustainable housing site.  We held a public consultation event earlier this year and used the feedback from local residents to shape our final plans.  This included reducing the maximum number of homes to no more than 100, no vehicle access off Harvest Rise and the retention of the existing hedgerow which will be supplemented with additional landscaping, increasing the landscape buffer for the neighbouring homes.”

“The need for additional new homes in the area is well recognised by the local community, and with the inclusion of 35% affordable housing we will be giving those looking to take their first steps on the housing ladder a welcome boost.”
