Catesby Estates selected to promote strategic land site off Foxhill Road, Lytchett Matravers, Dorset

The new Local Plan being prepared by Dorset Council will cover the whole of the Council area and will supersede the current Development Plan for the former Purbeck District Council.

Strategic Land Promotion Site In Lytchett Matravers

The Dorset Plan Consultation January 2021 sets out that the Council has considered a number of growth strategies which will promote sustainable patterns of growth. 

It is recognised that to provide the quantities of homes to Council is satisfied that there are no other reasonable options for meeting these development needs other than through changes to Green Belt boundaries. 

Local Plan Consultation and Proposed New Homes

Lytchett Matravers is classified as a Tier 3 settlement and provides a good range of facilities including health, retail, employment and education facilities.  

Whilst the consultation document has not identified land at Foxhills as a draft housing allocation, it has concluded that there are exceptional circumstances to make changes to the Green Belt boundary around Lytchett Matravers.
