Those looking to get onto the housing ladder were last night handed a boost by the Vale of White Horse District Council, following the planning committee’s decision to approve plans for much needed new homes in the area.
Following an application by Catesby Estates Ltd back in May, the Vale of White Horse District Council resolved to grant outline planning permission for 200 homes on a 15 acre site located off Dunmore Road in Abingdon.
The site which is allocated in the local plan will form part of the wider north Abingdon extension, and will deliver 35% affordable housing together with new public open space and children’s play areas. Housebuilders are expected to be onsite late 2018 with first sales in 2019.
Grant Stevenson, associate planning director for Catesby Estates Ltd said; “We are pleased that Members of the planning committee unanimously voted to follow the Planning Officer’s recommendation to approve this new housing development.
“Over 120 people from across Abingdon, Shippon, Kennington and surrounding villages registered their interest in the new homes, 20 of whom submitted a letter of support to the Council, further highlighting the need for new homes in Abingdon.”
