Outline plans have been submitted for the construction of up to 100 new homes on 12.7 acres of land east of Ivel Road, Shefford.
The land under the control of Catesby Estates plc, lies within the administrative area of Central Bedfordshire Council and is referred to as land allocation HAS44 in the emerging Local Plan, and lies on the southern edge of Shefford, east of where Ivel Road meets with the A507.
The Outline Planning Application has been submitted to Central Bedfordshire Council for:
Dawn Adams, Planning Manager for Catesby Estates said “We have worked with Central Bedfordshire Council to bring forward this well located and sustainable housing site. We held a public consultation event earlier this year and used the feedback from local residents to shape our final plans. This included reducing the maximum number of homes to no more than 100, no vehicle access off Harvest Rise and the retention of the existing hedgerow which will be supplemented with additional landscaping, increasing the landscape buffer for the neighbouring homes.”

The application will undergo a statutory consultation period, where anyone who wishes to make their views known on the development, can submit their comments to Central Bedfordshire Council, before it goes before the planning committee later this year. Should the application be approved, housebuilders could be onsite late 2019, with first residents taking occupation in 2020.
