Outline plans have been submitted for the construction of up to 65 new homes on 11.6 acres of land located west of Fishponds Way, Haughley.
The land under the control of Catesby Estates plc, lies within the administrative area of Mid Suffolk District Council and has been allocated for housing in the emerging Neighbourhood Plan under Policy HAU5.
The Outline Planning Application has been submitted to Mid Suffolk District Council for up to 65 new homes with 35% affordable housing, along with new public open space including a community garden/allotments.
Ed Barrett, Senior Planning Manager for Catesby Estates said “We have worked closely with Haughley Parish Council and Mid Suffolk District Council to bring forward this well located and sustainable housing site. We held a public consultation event earlier this year and used the feedback from local residents to shape our final plans.”
“This site was seen by the local community as a logical place for providing new homes and we have detailed in our proposals a range of smaller homes including bungalows as requested by local residents. Improved pedestrian/cycle access to Stowmarket was a key point raised which we have been able to address with the addition of a bridge over the watercourse to the south of the site providing safe passage to the existing public rights of way.”
The application will undergo a statutory consultation period, where anyone who wishes to make their views known on the development, can submit their comments to Mid Suffolk District Council, before it goes before the planning committee early next year. Should the application be approved, housebuilders could be onsite late 2019, with first residents taking occupation in 2020.
