Catesby Estates plc has successfully completed the sale of a freehold residential development site in Battle, Hastings to Optivo Development Services (ODS) a subsidiary of Optivo.
Outline planning permission was granted in December 2017, by Rother District Council’s Planning Committee, for 63 homes on the 9.1 acre site.
With a housing land supply of less than 3.7 years, and delays to the part 2 Local Plan which allocates housing sites, there are considerable public benefits for delivering housing in a District where the average house price is almost 12 times the average income.
As the location for the Battle of Hastings in 1066, Battle has an abundance of heritage assets which needed to be considered.
Led by Dawn Adams, Planning Manager for Catesby Estates, the team developed a carefully designed layout which had no heritage impact as agreed by Historic England. This careful and high quality design led approach was commended by Members of the Planning Committee.
Myron Osborne, Land & Development Director at Catesby Estates said; "We are delighted to have completed Catesby Estates first land sale to Optivo, who are one of the largest housing providers in the UK. They will be delivering a range of houses on the site including affordable rented homes, shared ownership homes and private housing.”
