Catesby Estates hosted today the Farmers Weekly Alternative Land Uses Live Event, at our head office location in Houlton (Thursday 30th March 2023).
Dawn Adams from the Catesby in-house planning team gave an overview of potential routes to diversification and the possible planning pitfalls. Followed by David Morris providing an overview of Catesby, land promotion and case study examples from our portfolio.
The latest Defra farm business survey shows that 68% of UK farms have some form of diversified activity from camping and hosting weddings to housing.
From a farming family and part of Catesby's in-house planning team, Dawn was only too happy to have the opportunity to reach out to a wider audience, as diversification is a regular discussion topic around their kitchen table!
Also taking part in the event were Keith Johnston from Armstrong Watson, Mark Charter from Thrings and Richard Foxon from Newton LDP.
Suzie Horne, Business Editor of Farmers Weekly acted as compère.
Many thanks too to our colleagues at Urban&Civic, Billy Davidson and Adam Sayer for providing an oversight of the ongoing work at Houlton and taking guests on a site tour, showcasing the Master Developer approach.
A networking lunch and a lively discussion panel rounded off a busy day.
