Earlier this month the Catesby team came together for a day of volunteering with the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT).
We spent the day partaking in their Wild Work Day scheme at Snelsmore Common, near Newbury. The common is located close to two of our land promotion sites in the nearby area.
Snelsmore Common contains a range of habitats including heathland, wet mires and woodland making it home to nationally rare bird species including the Nightjar.
After a safety briefing we were helping BBOWT and their team of regular volunteers with a range of activities from litter picking to silver birch scrub removal as part of an ongoing heathland restoration project.
It was an enjoyable day out of the office working with colleagues from across our two offices, and learning hands on about the management of these special habitats.
